The Pillar of Love is a foundational element of our LIFE Clubs mentorship. We believe that love is at the core of everything we teach, as it reflects the very nature of God. Children are taught to love God and others, as they first begin to know and experience God’s love.
God’s Love is Unconditional
A cornerstone of the Pillar of Love is teaching children about the unconditional nature of God’s love. This concept is fundamental to understanding God’s character and our relationship with Him. We teach children that God’s love isn’t based on our actions or achievements. He loves us simply because we are His creation, not because of anything we do or don’t do. Children learn that God’s love is not fickle or dependent on circumstances. It remains steady through all of life’s ups and downs. We emphasize that God’s love includes forgiveness when we wrong Him, and is a constant that we can depend on.
Loving God
An important aspect of the Pillar of Love is teaching children to love God. We love God because He first loved us (1 John 4:19). This love is a natural response to His unconditional love for us, forming a heartfelt connection with our Creator rather than it being an obligation. Children learn various ways to cultivate their love for God and build a personal relationship with Him, such as spending time in prayer, reading the Bible, being obedient to His teachings and so on.
Loving Others
Another vital component of the Pillar of Love is teaching children the importance of loving others. Loving others can be challenging at times, but it becomes easier when we are connected to Jesus, as illustrated by the example of the Vine and the branches. Children learn various ways to show love, such as being kind, helping others, and speaking encouraging words. Through these practices, they understand how staying connected to Jesus empowers them to love others more effectively.
Growing in God’s Love
We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19).
As children grow in God’s love:
- They feel loved and accepted
- They develop meaningful relationships with God & others
- They always have a friend in Jesus
